Oceans of Fun

Today I have been inspired by the gorgeous mood board at the Scrapbook Boutique February Challenge. I  loved the colours and the definite beach mood that it conveyed.

I began by creating a sea background by clear embossing the MFT Whimsical Waves background, then sponging 3 ombre effect layers of colour using Altenew inks which were then spritzed with water. I die cut a  curved border strip to convey the image of sea foam as the sea hits the shore and then coated this with Bo Bunny Sugar Glitter paste. The three stamped images were coloured with Zig brush markers, fussy cut then coated with glossy accents to create dimension as well as to convey the glassy feeling of sea water. To create the effect of sand grains the chipboard letters were painted with Tim Holtz broken glass distress paint then ombre effect layered with 3 colours of ultrafine glitters before coating with glossy accents. Once the card was assembled I added water drops using Nuvo crystal clear.

Don’t let life RUFFLE your feathers.

The Simon Says: Spread Your Wings Monday Challenge inspired me to create a really special card for my mum. She is 84 years old, lives alone, 2000 kms away from me, and 2 weeks ago she had a fall and fractured several vertebrae in her lower spine. She needs to spend 8 weeks in hospital in a back brace and lying flat on her back. Over the last 2 weeks I have been wowed by her incredible courage and positivity. When thinking about her, the MFT lying down penguin image just flashed into my mind, and I just had to put her in an idyllic tropical setting-mum could well use a pina colada I suspect. The words are so true – You Go Girl! Don’t Let Life Ruffle Your Feathers-even at 84.
