Happy me has just received an air freighted shipment of June release MFT products and I decided that I just had to play with one of the new goodies and create a card for the MFT Color Challenge #71. It was hard to select but I seemed to be drawn to creating a graphic type of card using the Color Droplets stamp set and co-ordinating die.
Harkening back to my old mathematics days where I learnt that a droplet is a circle topped by a triangle, I decided to place the droplets on an embossed circle background and I also just couldn’t resist giving the droplets a stitched on look.

Today I was inspired by the fabulous new June mood board over at Scrapbook Boutique, Gold is the new Black. As soon as I saw the board I imagined fairy gold dust and funnily enough sitting out on my desk was the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors pallette, along with a “just acquired” star stack die which was just begging to be heat foiled. So the creative process just seemed to all fall into place.

Today I have been having so much fun playing with the new release My Favourite Things Seaside Seagulls stamp set and creating a birthday card for my husband. The seagulls and the “mine, mine, mine” sentiment, from the ‘Finding Nemo” movie, is a standing joke in our family, so I know that my husband is going to get a laugh from this card. I decided to enter the card in the MFT Color Challenge #70- colors orange, persimmon, gravel grey and berrylicious aqua.

Today I have been inspired to enter the My Favourite Things Color Challenge #69. I decided to challenge myself to think of these colours in a non floral way and felt drawn to my Minc Hot Pink foil as a feature for the ripe raspberry color. From there it was not hard to flow to a Tim Holtz spun sugar smooshed background for the cotton candy color. Then of course hedgehogs can have “safety orange”hair, can’t they. The steel grey color inspiration was incorporated in the mat and hedgehog shadows. I also had fun making some cute little foiled hearts using the heart dies from the Die-namics Stitched strip set.
Stamps: MFT Lots of Hugs, MFT Happy Hedgehogs
Dies: Die-namics Twice the Hugs, Die-namics Stitched strip (hearts), stitched rectangle
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress spun sugar, Hero Arts Charcoal, Versafine black

Today I have created a Mother’s Day card by watercolouring the gorgeous Penny Black “Bejeweled” stamp using dye ink brush markers. I coloured each component of the image with the markers, building layers from light to dark, misting each layer very lightly with water, before stamping with my Misti tool. I used a fine liner brush to paint some fine veins to the leaves and then added some background spatter detail.
Stamps: Penny Black Bejeweled, Mothers Day sentiment
Dies: MFT/Die-namics Stitched Rectangle Scallop frame
Other: Dye ink brush markers, watercolour paper, Pretty Pink Posh clear drops, Dark grey/black card, Wink of Stella clear brush, white embossing powder.
I am entering this card in the Penny Black Saturday Challenge-Spring or Easter and the Penny Black and More April Challenge-Spring.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that you have a great crafting day.
I need to make a special congratulations card for my daughter who has just achieved a career milestone and I also wanted to make a card for the Penny Black and Friends Saturday Challenge, Try Something New. My daughter is a huge cat lover so I had been itching to use the gorgeous “can can” dancing cats from the Penny Black Party Friends set for the very first time. I had also just received a new set of Nuvo Jewel drops in orange, lime and lemon which seemed to be suitably “happy”colours, so I decided to use these for my background colour inspiration. And of course to make my daughter giggle I just had to make these dancing cats dance on a wobbler spring.
Stamps: Penny Black Party Friends, Roald Dahl Hello
Colour: Caran D’Arche Neocolour II watercolour crayons in lime, orange and yellow for background, Memento black
Die: Die-namics Chevron stripes
Other: watercolour paper, Copics to colour cats, Nuvo Jewel drops in Orange Marmalade, Limoncello and Key Lime, white glitter card, wobbler spring.
I think that these cats are such a hoot, you just have to smile. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Today I have been inspired by the gorgeous mood board at the Scrapbook Boutique February Challenge. I loved the colours and the definite beach mood that it conveyed.
I began by creating a sea background by clear embossing the MFT Whimsical Waves background, then sponging 3 ombre effect layers of colour using Altenew inks which were then spritzed with water. I die cut a curved border strip to convey the image of sea foam as the sea hits the shore and then coated this with Bo Bunny Sugar Glitter paste. The three stamped images were coloured with Zig brush markers, fussy cut then coated with glossy accents to create dimension as well as to convey the glassy feeling of sea water. To create the effect of sand grains the chipboard letters were painted with Tim Holtz broken glass distress paint then ombre effect layered with 3 colours of ultrafine glitters before coating with glossy accents. Once the card was assembled I added water drops using Nuvo crystal clear.
I now just can’t wait to spend another day at the beach.
Stamps: MFT Whimsical Waves background, Clear Impressions Sea Breeze, Flourishes Sea Side Life
Inks: Altenew Sea Glass, Ocean Waves and Caribbean Sky, Memento black
