Joy to You

Today I thought that I would share one of the card designs which I made for the Caring Hearts Christmas Card drive 2017 which features the Concord & 9th Joyful Noel die set. I have decided to post the card on the Concord & 9th #15 card challenge, Christmas.

I had fun creating a sparkling embossing paste background, watercoloured letters and lots of sparkle with die cut glitter card, Studio Katia sparkling crystals and Wink of Stella clear brush pen.

Concord & 9th Grateful for You

Today I am delighted to be back in my studio after what seems a very long absence dealing with some significant personal challenges. I have been so inspired by the Concord & 9th Challenge #14, Shades of Concord & 9th.

Firstly, their corporate colours so remind me of my “tropical beach happy place”- azure blue skies and aqua tropical waters, secondly I received this gorgeous grateful for you stamp thank you gift with my purchases in their store last month. Here’s what I created.

I used Tim Holtz distress oxides for my background, gold heat embossing of the Concord & 9th Grateful for You stamp, some colouring of the flowers and leaves with gel pens and of course some sequins to add some sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that you find many things to be grateful for in your life today.

Pearlescent Beautiful Lady

Life has imposed itself on me in recent weeks and I am finally glad to have the opportunity to create a card.  I have been inspired by Erum’s stunning card for the Altenew August 2017 Inspiration Challenge.

The first thing that struck me when I saw this card, was to imagine how beautiful it must be in real life, ahh the frustrations of photography. I could imagine the glow of the fabulous metallic paints and so I used this to guide my card creation.

I mixed pearlescent medium with Faber Castell Gelato’s for all of the water coloured flower and background painting. Additional layers of bling were added using diamond dust glued to the centre of the hydrangea flowers, Wink of Stella on the gold heat embossed diagonal striped border and Smooch Glitz on the die cut thanks sentiment. Due to the limitations of photography I will have to leave it to your imagination to add the sparkle and layered dimension, especially the diamond dust glued to the flower centres-I just love this product.

Ozzie Koala Bon Voyage Card

Today I have created a bon voyage card for my son as he heads off to Oxford University in the UK to study for an MBA. I procured the cute Reverse Confetti Bear Hugs stamp set a while ago and I thought that I would make a Koala card to remind him of Oz. I have worked with the Reverse Confetti July sketch challenge.

The cute koala’s just had to be surrounded by some gum leaves-after all they do munch their way through about 500 grams of leaves per day. I created a green and gold Australian colours stencil branches background which I then coated in glitter paste to reflect the bling of the Australian sun.

MFT A-maze-ing Flower interactive card

Today I have been playing with the MFT Flower Shaker die set and have created an interactive maze card using the colours from the MFT Color Challenge #73 -tropical teal, coral crush, gravel grey and black.

I began by creating a soft coral crush watercolour background, a deeper coral flower petal paper which I embellished with Minc reactive mist and opal foil and a soft teal watercolour background for the leaves.

Unfortunately the card was a bit of a challenge to photograph and the detail of foil, metallic silver and glitter is not showing up.

Beautiful You

Today  I have been inspired by the July Altenew Challenge with Therese’s gorgeous roses inspiration photograph.

I immediately felt drawn to use a soft and loose water colouring style for the key line images in the Altenew Painted Flowers stamp set.

I decided that I was going to send this card to an Aunt of mine who is extremely ill. She is definitely a “beautiful you”, and has always loved gardening and flowers, so I hope that this card will inspire her and bring some happiness into her life at this time.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Altenew painted Flowers, Altenew Beautiful Lady
Dies: Marianne Creatables-You, Nellie Snellen Edging pattern #4
Inks: Versafine Black
Other: Zig Real Brush Markers, Pretty Pink Posh droplets.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Mailing Hugs

Today I have been playing with my newly arrived MFT June card kit and decided to create a card for the MFT Color Challenge #72, shades of 2 blues, red and charcoal.

Since I live in the sub tropics I just couldn’t resist the bird of paradise stamp to sit on the mail slot and of course the MFT bold cover ups background die just seemed to compliment the mail slot die. It doesn’t show up in the photography but I love how the MFT brushed silver card looks so much like a real brushed stainless steel letterbox.
